Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature Signs Memoranda Of Understanding With Research Institutes
2 December 2011
The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature has formed research partnerships with the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the Public Affairs Research Institute (PARI) by signing memoranda of understanding with these two highly reputable research institutes at a ceremony held on the 30th of November 2011 at the Garden Court Hotel OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg.
The two ceremonial signing events were addressed by the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, the Hon S W Lubisi and the Leadership of both the HSRC and PARI. It is hoped that these partnerships will benefit the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. It is our firm belief that the partnership we have established with the two research institutes will serve as a catalyst to bring together research, oversight, accountability, skills development, and will deepen democracy in Mpumalanga and South Africa for the benefit of the Legislature and all sectors of society, especially women, the youth and rural communities
The overall rationale behind this partnership is to create a unique opportunity for both practical and theoretical learning about democracy and to help develop leadership skills for all our researchers. The mission is to enrich our knowledge economy in a manner that ensures the development of our province and the improvement of its ability to respond to the challenges facing our society in the 21st century. Empirical research is an essential aspect in the service delivery environment and it provides guarantees for a better country.
This partnership will be underpinned by collaborative work, shared knowledge, skills transfer and sustained contribution into the knowledge economy of the Mpumalanga Province.
