Members of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature Provincial Legislature re-elected as APAC Office Bearers

The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature has noted with great appreciation the honour bestowed upon two of its serving honourable Members who were re-elected as Office Bearers of the Association of Public Accounts Committees (APAC).

On behalf of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, honourable Members and staff, the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature wishes to congratulate the Hon AF "Fish" Mahlalela on his re-election as the Chairperson of APAC for a second two-year term which commenced on 6 October 2011 and ends in the next APAC Annual General Meeting in 2013. The Legislature further congratulates the Hon RC "Refilwe" Mahlobogoane who was also re-elected as an Executive Committee member for a second two-year term.

The Association of Public Accounts Committees (APAC) is an association of all public accounts committees in all the provincial legislatures and the national assembly. The main reason for APAC’s existence is to serve as a catalyst in the capacity development of Public Accounts Committees (PACs), Municipal Public Accounts Committees (MPACs) and other committees of parliament and legislatures. APAC also holds annual conferences as a forum for sharing knowledge on best practices and experiences on matters pertaining to oversight.

This Election comes at a time when we are hard at work to position the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature as a model organisation in terms of accountability in the utilisation of public funds in line with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
